To report a traffic accident or crime, call the police on 110.

Remember to convey the following:

• What? For example: a fight (kenka), an accident (jiko), a theft (tounan), etcetera.
• When?
• Where? The address if possible, and/or nearby landmarks.
• Who? Describe the criminal(s) if necessary: how many, their physical features, their direction of escape, etcetera.
• *Your name, address and telephone number.*

To report a fire or call for an ambulance, dial 119.

When the operator answers，specify whether there is a fire or you need an ambulance.

Useful Phrases:

Kaji desu.               There is a fire.

Kyuukyuu desu.      It is an emergency. (I need an ambulance.)

• Your name
• Your phone number
